‘We lost our lease’: Office Direct Interiors holding clearance sale

By Brandi Makuski

A northside business is being forced to move.

Office Direct Interiors, 200 Division St., recently received word it would not be able to renew its lease at 200 Division St., so owner Cole Corrigan said the company is relocating—but he’s not certain where, yet.

“We’ve tried working something out with the city, but we’re looking at our options in both Stevens Point and Plover,” Corrigan said.

The company, which averages $600,000 annually selling office furniture and supplies, has done work with numerous local companies including Roehl Transportation, Ki Mobility, local school districts, AIG, and the City of Stevens Point.

The company will remain in its current location through the weekend, Corrigan said, but closes its doors on Saturday. Even if the company doesn’t have a new storefront by then, Corrigan said customers can still purchase merchandise from its website.

“People can still expect us to deliver their products, and we’re still committed to excellent products and service,” Corrigan said.

The company was in the process of creating a local manufacturing center.

“It would have created about 20 jobs and focused on building quality office furniture here in Central Wisconsin, instead of ordering something from another part of the country, or overseas,” Corrigan said. “Now we’ve had to put that off a bit, but we’re still planning on that.”

Corrigan said the company lost its lease to another business moving into the space. A message left for Pewaukee-based Northpoint Center LLC, which owns the property, was not immediately returned.

Office Direct Interiors is holding a “Lost Our Lease” sale through the rest of the week, with clearance prices on all items in the store. The company remains open 9 a.m to 6 p.m. through Saturday, Sept. 8.
