Rosalie “Rose” Mae Reed, 83

Rosalie “Rose” Mae Reed, age 83, passed away on April 18, 2024. She was a beloved wife and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.

Rose was born on July 19, 1940, in Stevens Point to Bernard and Rose Janikowski. She attended Maria High School, and then worked at Sentry in the office pool for 30 years. She went to St. Michael’s Hospital for another 30 years and finished her career as a Central Service Technician.

More than anything, Rose was a devoted wife to Robert O. Reed, the love of her life, who she married on July 17, 1971, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Stevens Point. He passed on April 2, 2010. She also was a loving cat mom to her precious kitty, Jose “Ho Ho.”

In her free time, and when Bob was alive, Rose enjoyed camping at Rivers Edge, and once a year in Wisconsin Dells. You could always find them together, swimming in their pool, hunting, and gardening. She loved to decorate for the seasons.

More recently, she loved the tabloid magazines, watching TV, especially any version of “The Bachelor/The Bachelorette” show, and catching up with friends and family. She was always very nicely dressed in recent fashions and had painted nails to compliment her rich black hair. There was never a time she didn’t have multiple rings and other jewelry on.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert; her parents, Bernard and Rose; and kitties, Satchmo, Morris, Mike, and Punk “Pumpkin.”

Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her, especially her friends and neighbors Frieda, Karen, Terri, Ben, Isaac, Dave, Frank, Mary, and Kathy. All of us would like to thank the many incredible health care workers and other caregivers who have taken care of Rose. The compassion and love you have shown Rose has not gone unnoticed.

For those wishing to express their sympathies, her friends kindly suggest in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Humane Society of Portage County; an organization that was close to her heart. Donations can be made by visiting hspcwi.org or by mailing them to the Humane Society of Portage County, 3200 Iber Lane, Plover, Wis. 54467.

A graveside service will be held for Rose at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at Guardian Angel Cemetery, 801 Soo Marie Avenue, Stevens Point.
