Police & Sheriff calls, Feb. 15-16

February 15

Suspicious: Deputies were called to an area near the Red Bridge at 12:40 a.m. when a caller reported a car on the ice. No further details were included in the police blotter.

Crash: A 56-year-old called deputies to report she struck a deer with her vehicle near Hwy. 54 and County Hwy. BB at 5:32 a.m. No human injuries were reported.

Scammed: A 57-year-old man called deputies from the 5300 block of Woodland Cir. at 10:11 a.m. to report he’d been the victim of a gift card scam. The man reported losing $2,000.

Disturbance: Deputies were called to the 200 block of Center St. in Rosholt at 11:36 a.m. when a 44-year-old woman reported that a 48-year-old man was throwing items at her car. The man is under a no-contact order from a judge.

Stumbler: Police were called to Kwik Trip, 1600 Maria Dr., at 11:05 a.m. when a caller reported a man, age 43, causing a disturbance by “stumbling around the parking lot and throwing a couple of bottles” in the area.

Lights, dude: Police gave a verbal warning to a man, whose age was not listed in the blotter, for driving without working taillights at Prentice St. and Maria Dr. at  2:29 p.m.

Crash: Deputies were called to Green Tree Rd. and Serafin Ct. in Junction City at 4:16 p.m. when a caller reported a two-vehicle collision. No one was injured but one vehicle had to be towed away.

Theft: A 41-year-old woman called deputies to the 200 block of Beech St. in Whiting at 4:44 p.m. to report someone had stolen her prescription medication.  

Gone to pot: Police were called to an apartment building on the 2700 block of Dixon St. when a neighbor reported someone was smoking marijuana in the building at 5:37 p.m.

Crash: Police responded to a crash in the parking lot at Fazolli’s, 5665 Hwy. 10 East, at 6:02 p.m. No injuries were reported.

Suspicious: A resident asked police to respond to the 3600 block of Doolittle Dr. at 6:32 p.m. because a suspicious red van was parked in the lot, and a suspicious man was leaving “randomly.”

Bad ex: A 45-year-old woman called police to her home on the 2800 block of Church St. at 7:33 p.m. to report her ex-boyfriend, age 45, was at the door and refused the leave.

Hit & run: A 51-year-old man called police to the St. Michael’s Hospital parking lot, 900 Illinois Ave., to report a motorist in a blue four-dar sedan struck his vehicle before leaving the lot.

Assault: Police took a report of an assault at 10:19 p.m. that occurred the previous night at 13th Floor Canteen, 1625 Depot St.

Slide-in: Deputies responded to the 6200 block of Old Highway 18 Rd. at 10:50 p.m. when a 26-year-old man crashed his car in a ditch on the side of the road. No further details were released. 

Welfare check: A passerby called police to the 3200 block of Main St. at 11:26 p.m. to report the lights were on in the American Red Cross office. Police confirmed it was employees working late.

February 16

Fighting: Deputies were called to an apartment on the 2600 block of Indiana Ave. at 12:15 a.m. when a caller reported a man and woman were fighting loudly. No further information was released. 

Welfare check: Police attempted to check on a 22-year-old man who was walking around the Stevens Point Police Department parking lot at 1:22 a.m. The man refused to talk to the police. Officers called the man’s mother and asked her to pick him up.

Bus v semi: Police responded to a school bus v semi collision at Main St. and Michigan Ave. at 6:40 am. There were no children on the bus at the time of the crash and no injuries were reported.
