Letter: We should be united as Americans, not divided by party lines

To the Editor-

“We the people…” Many of us know that this is the Preamble to the Constitution of the United States. Why then, have our people become so divided? Political parties formed years ago in American history. Yet, they now control America and its people.

When the British threatened American freedom, our country rose up and fought together to defend it. Yet our country is fighting again for our freedom. The problem is, it is American against American just like during the Civil War. While the rest of the world watches, they hope and salivate as the American people fight each other to the detriment of our country.

Politicians will lie and say what people want to hear even if they do not truly feel the way they are speaking. Yet, people will believe them solely based on the political party line they align with. Why then are so many believing their lies and pushing America into the hands of those who want to destroy it?

When simple conversations or online posts suddenly turn into emotions of political feelings and beliefs based on unproven information, when is it time for ALL of us to take a step back and reevaluate ourselves? Many will think of things, political beliefs, and specific oppositional candidates that they believe would destroy America. But, those exact divided beliefs are exactly what is leading to the destruction of America, our country and homeland, and what so many have fought and died for.

What is more important? Is it your political beliefs or party line? Or is it the good of America? You may say they go hand in hand. But those against us use that to create fear and unrest for their own personal agendas. No, it is NOT the oppositional political party!

“We the people…” Not, “We the political party….” It is time for ALL Americans to stand together, no matter their political beliefs, no matter their political alignment. We the people must stand together, united as one. United we stand, divided we fall. So let ALL Americans stand united, as one.
