Lake Pacawa to close for the year

Metro Wire Staff

The village of Plover is shutting down its popular water features for the year.

The last day of the 2023 season at Lake Pacawa Splash & Play will be Monday, Sept. 4. The splash pad and play area opened for its second season in May.

Village leaders opened the 6,000-square-foot splash pad and play area last July. It’s home to interactive water features — some user-activated — and the village pumps as many gallons through the park as it’s legally allowed to without being required to have a lifeguard on duty.

The play area was constructed on soft turf and has an interactive and fully accessible playground for children of all abilities.

The $4-million park overhaul includes accessible kayak launches and fishing piers, a new walking path, additional parking, a new shelter, and improvements to the beach and water.

The Splash & Play is open during regular park hours in Plover, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Lake Pacawa Park is located at 1831 Maple Dr. in the village.

The park will reopen Memorial Day weekend of 2024.
