Fraud: A 78-year-old man reported to police at 9:24 a.m. that he’d been the victim of fraud after discovering another person was writing checks in his name.

Punk cowboy: A 49-year-old woman called police to Save A Lot Foods, 3264 Church St., at 9:18 a.m., to report that a man on a bicycle wearing a leather cowboy hat made threats towards her.

Jerks: A 48-year-old man called police to Bukolt Park to report vandals had struck a new life jacket station near the boat ramp. Unknown persons urinated on the life jackets, the man said, and he had captured the people on security video.

Crash: Deputies responded to mile marker 159 on I-39 at 10:09 a.m. for a two-vehicle collision, where it was reported that one motorist was overdosing.

Assault: Police were called to the Portage Co. Jail at 10:28 a.m. when corrections officers reported a 40-year-old male inmate assaulted a 19-year-old male inmate.

Threats: A 27-year-old woman reported to police at 10:49 a.m. that she’d been threatened by a 24-year-old man on the 1200 block of Francis St.

Squatter: A 44-year-old man called deputies to report that someone was “setting up camp” on his land on the 1100 block of County Hwy. D at 12:50 p.m.

Wipeout: Police responded to a single motorcycle accident at Hwy. 10 East and Brilowski Rd. at 1:03 p.m. No injuries were reported.

More homeless problems: Police were called to Pixelle, 707 Arlington Pl., at 6:19 p.m., when someone reported a 31-year-old homeless man was trespassing and had set up camp on the property.

Kid problems: A 35-year-old woman called police to the 400 block of Maria Dr. at 6:51 p.m. to report that she’d been struck by her daughter, whose age was redacted from the blotter. No further details were released.

Trespassers: Police were called to the 1900 block of W. Zinda Dr. at 8:50 p.m. when a 34-year-old man reported three teenagers on the roof of a building there. No further details were released.

Sleep elsewhere: Police responded to the library tunnel at 1001 Main St. to move along a 63-year-old man who was sleeping on the ground at 10:06 p.m.

Assault: Police were called to St. Michael’s Hospital, 900 Illinois Ave., at 10:36 p.m. when hospital staff reported a 28-year-old man was brought in by some fishermen after being beaten and then found along the bank of the Wisconsin River. The victim was intoxicated and refused to cooperate with police or provide any information as to what had happened or how he suffered his injuries.

Extra patrol: Deputies were asked to conduct extra patrol in areas with high instances of homelessness, including Red Bridge — an area near Casimir and Walkush roads — Granite Ridge Rd. by Pine Bluff Rd. in the town of Hull, known as “the pipe,” and Old Wausau Rd., between 11:36 and 11:52 p.m.
