Irene (née Suski) Glodowski, 82
Irene (née Suski) Glodowski, 82, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2024, after a courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease).
Born Jan. 20, 1942, in Stockton, Wis., to Ed and Mary (née Myska) Suski, she graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in 1960 and worked as a stenographer at Sentry Insurance. She met her husband, Jerry Glodowski, at a polka dance, and they married on May 6, 1961, at St. Mary of Mount Carmel (Fancher), sharing a love of polka for 61 years.
Glodowski held various jobs before retiring from Bull’s Eye Credit Union, where she was known for her cheerful voice on the answering system. She was a talented seamstress, cook, baker, and gardener, sharing her bountiful harvests with her family.
A dedicated volunteer, she gave her time to Riverview Hospital, St. Michael’s Hospital, and the St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband, visiting destinations like Alaska, Canada, Europe, and the Caribbean.
Glodowski is survived by her children Rodney (Denna Dahlman) and Roxanne (Tim Mancl), grandchildren Amy (Peter Falk) and Tyler (Julia Murra), great-grandchildren Evan, Eli, Lydia, Oliver, and Emmett, and sisters Pat (Ted) Cychosz and Ramona Wolff. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, infant brother Robert, sisters Marie Kizewski and Rita Matthews/Bennett, and brother-in-law Ward.
The family extends their gratitude to the staff at Hilltop Grand in Wisconsin Rapids and Aspirus Riverview Hospital. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church or the ALS Society.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 17, 2024, at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Amherst, with visitation starting at 9 a.m. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
