James “Jim” Falk, 86

James “Jim” Falk, of Plover, passed away peacefully, December 14, 2023 surrounded by family in Stevens Point, at the age of 86.

Jim was born on June 7, 1937 in Stevens Point; son of the late Julian and Josephine (Sweek) Falkavage. He attended St. Peter grade school and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in 1955.

Following high school, Jim furthered his education by attending the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and then pursued architectural design in Milwaukee.

Jim married his high school sweetheart, Marian (Ostrowski) on June 20, 1959, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Stevens Point and have celebrated almost 65 years of marriage.

He was a partner in a local flooring and paint business after his education. He sold his interest and was recruited to set up a new division of retail cabinetry for Vetter Building Center. This experience and knowledge led him to partner with wife, Marian, and start their own business.

In 1972, they opened Falk Interiors in Stevens Point, specializing in flooring, cabinetry, countertops, tile and accessories. Over the years, through their shared creativity and leadership, the business expanded to include furniture and wall coverings. After 25 successful years, Jim and Marian retired from Falk Interiors and pursued building custom homes for five years.

Jim dedicated himself to his family as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather; whose fun sense of humor will be deeply missed. He and Marian loved traveling and had many adventures. They were blessed to travel to many states and a multitude of countries on six continents. Jim was a lifelong avid boater and social golfer. For over two decades, Jim and Marian enjoyed the warm weather of Florida.

Jim is survived by his wife, Marian; his daughter, June (Bryan) Brooks of Pilot Point, Texas; his sons, Bob (Lori) Falk of Stevens Point and Joel (Robin) Falk of Plover; six grandchildren, Cheyenne (Aaron) Preputnik of Ponder, Texas, Sierra (Cole) Hudson of Aubrey, Texas, Connor (Miranda) Falk of Plover, Mackenzie Falk of Minneapolis, Minn., and Gianna and Genevieve Falk of Plover; and four great-grandchildren, Faith and Chloe Preputnik and Caden and Brooks Hudson.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Julian and Josephine Falkavage; his brother, Cliff Falkavage; and a sister-in-law, Mary Falkavage.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to St. Michael’s Hospital, Dimensions Living Center, and St. Croix Hospice for all of the exceptional care provided to Jim and his family.

For those wishing to express their sympathies, the family kindly suggests in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to St. Stephen Catholic Church or Operation Bootstrap in Stevens Point.
