Irma Skrzypkowski, 95

Irma Skrzypkowski, 95 of Plover, passed away on December 13, 2022, at Whispering Pines Assisted Living Center.

Irma was born September 30, 1927 to Oskar and Henriette (née Zemsch) Zuendt in Ansbach, Germany. She attended the Karolinenschule in Ansbach and vocational schools in Nuremberg.

After the end of World War II, Irma worked as a secretary and also worked retail jobs for the U.S. Army at a military base located in Ansbach. It was here where she met her husband Frank Skrzypkowski while he was stationed in Germany.

The two were married in October of 1954 at St. Ludwigs Catholic Church in Ansbach. They remained overseas until Frank’s retirement in 1973 and the two moved to Plover.

After moving to Wisconsin, besides being a full-time homemaker, she worked seasonally at Tree Acres Nursery. She also did volunteer work for the Plover Meal Site doing food preparation, the Holly Shoppe in Stevens Point performing retail and cashier duties, and also volunteered at St. Bronislava Catholic Church in Plover for many years.

Irma enjoyed gardening, working with ceramics, cooking, going to dances with her husband Frank, and traveling throughout the United States as well as making several return trips back to Germany. She also loved having family dinners and social get-togethers with extended family.

Irma is survived by her children Richard (Judy) Skrzypkowski of Plover, and Dennis (Amy) Giessen of Arlington, Wis. She is further survived by a granddaughter, Enya Oleson of Portage, Wis., and a sister Karola Schoepf of Bamberg, Germany.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank, her parents, Oskar and Henriette Zuendt, and her brother, Ludwig Zuendt.

Her family would like to thank the incredible staff at Whispering Pines Assisted Living and Heartland (Promedica) Hospice for the loving care of Irma. Also a special thank you to Lori Mocadlo and Karen Trzebiatowski of Whispering Pines for providing guidance and caring support to our families.
