Robert “Bob” A. Stoltz, 87

Robert “Bob” A. Stoltz, of Stevens Point, passed away on Friday, July 14, 2023, at the Portage County Health Care Center in Stevens Point, at the age of 87.

Bob was born July 5, 1936, in Stevens Point; the son of Edward and Susan (née Dreva) Stoltz. He attended local schools and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in 1954.

Following high school, Bob joined the U.S. Navy and proudly served for four years. After his service to our country, he returned to Stevens Point, and in 1959 he married Rosalie Sankey. The two welcomed two beautiful children, Kevin and Karen. Bob was a devoted husband and father who worked hard in the paper manufacturing industry to provide for his family. He began his career at the Whiting-Plover Paper Mill and later worked for Georgia Pacific in Stevens Point. He was later transferred to the Port Edwards mill where he worked until his retirement.

Bob was a friendly soul who enjoyed small talk with everyone he met. He could often be found sitting in his chair outside, watching people pass by, making sure to say “Hi” and possibly even strike up a conversation. While Bob enjoyed sitting outside, he also enjoyed other outdoor activities such as mowing his lawn, hunting (in his younger years) and fishing.

While he loved fishing, his greatest love was his family. For 44 summers, he and his family spent time at their trailer in Minocqua at Patricia Lake Campground, making happy memories his children and grandchildren will cherish forever. Bob and Rosalie enjoyed traveling even further away; spending 10 winters in McAllen, Texas, where they made trips into Mexico and enjoyed the warm weather with new friends and family that came to visit. No matter where they were, the two spent countless hours enjoying leisurely car rides together as well.

Bob is survived by his wife, Rosalie; his children, Kevin Stoltz and Karen Zalewski; and his grandsons, Kyle (Emily) Zalewski and Clatyon Zalewski. He is further survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Maurice (Rose) Stoltz; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Lou (Fred) Jaworski and Nancy (Larry) Zywicki; and a sister-in-law, Kathy Ligenza.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his step-mother, Martha Stoltz; a brother, Lee Ligenza; a brother and sister-in-law, Jerome (Henrietta) Stoltz; and a son-in-law, Michael Zalewski.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Portage County Health Care Center and Compassus Hospice for their kind and compassionate care given to Bob and his family.

Private family services for Bob will be held at a later time. Shuda Funeral Chapel is honored to be assisting the family. Online condolences may be sent by visiting www.shudafuneral.com.
