Plover Library Closed for Heating Repair

By Brandi Makuski

The Plover branch of the Portage Co. Library has unexpectedly closed for repairs to the building’s heating system.

Library director Larry Oathout said the library, located at 2151 Roosevelt Dr., has two heating units and both were malfunctioning.

“Last week we found out that one of the units was blowing cold air,” Oathout said. “They came over to look at it, and found the other one was malfunctioning and was putting out a little bit of carbon monoxide.”

Oathout said no one was ever in danger, but the closure was out of extra caution.

“It’s a good time of year to close down anyway – the kids are off doing things with the families, and we don’t really have a lot of programming this time of year,” he said.

Oathout said library members can still pick up items they’ve requested at the library’s main branch, 1001 Main Street.

The closure is expected to last about two weeks, he said.
