Two-year-old Matthew Slagle, leans in, with a little coaxing from dad, Jim Slagle, to greet the newest K9 dog from the Portage Co. Sheriff’s Office. Mother Amanda Slagle is just off-camera.

The Slagle family was one of several who attended the inaugural K9 fundraiser held at PuroClean, 3288 Church St., on July 19.

With appearances from Section 715 Throwing Co. and food trucks from King Cone and SmokeHouse Barbeque, Beth McBride, owner of PuroClean, said the fundraiser was designed to allow the community to show support for the county’s K9 program.

Deputy Brad Mathwich also got a chance to introduce to the community his new K9 partner, Lexa.
