Jerome “Jerry” Shulfer, 81

Jerome “Jerry” Shulfer, of Plover, passed away on March 24, 2023 at The House of the Dove in Marshfield, at the age of 81.

Jerry was born November 28, 1941 to Harold and Georgian (Kudla) Shulfer in Stevens Point. As a young boy, he attended St. Stanislaus Elementary and graduated from Pacelli High School.

Jerry was a hard worker from a young age. As a youngster, he worked several summers at his Uncle’s farm in Fancher. Then, in high school, he worked at a local car wash. Once he graduated, he began working at Consolidated Papers. Over his 32 years there, he worked in the grinding room, decker house, bleach plant, and store room. In addition to a strong work ethic, he was also civic-minded; serving as President of the Lake Emily Lake Association.

He married Deone Wojtalewicz and had three children. They divorced. Jerry later met Annie Noreika and realized he had met the one true love of his life. Jerry and Annie were married on May 29, 1982, blending his three children and her four children as one large family. While Jerry was a very loving and kind hearted man, he was especially warm towards Annie. Some of his favorite memories with her included their time camping together in Waupaca and on Lake Metonga in Crandon, their beautiful home on Lake Emily and their beloved dogs.

Jerry was a man of many interests. He was an accomplished bowler and golfer; even achieving a hole in one. Jerry enjoyed fishing, whether it was with his wife, Annie, in their backyard on Lake Emily or to Lake Michigan with his brother, Freddy, where he caught a Coho Salmon large enough to mount. Winter didn’t stop Jerry from fishing; he enjoyed ice fishing just as much. When spending time indoors, he spent his time watching all kinds of sports; especially the Packers; or taking trips to the casino. When the weather was nice, Jerry also enjoyed riding his motorcycle. Additionally, Jerry also had a couple unique collections; beer cans and miniature cars. Above all else, Jerry had a great sense of humor; always smiling and making those around him laugh.

Jerry is survived by his children, Brennan (Darlene) Shulfer, Melanie Jean (Erik Femal) Shulfer, and Renae (Kelly) Oetting; his step-children, Roland (Steven Drabkowski) Noreika, Linda Price, and Cheryl (Rick) Maslowski; a stepson-in-law, Scott Sievers; a friend, Elizabeth Koerner; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his brothers, Patrick Shulfer and Frederick (Angeline) Shulfer; and sisters, Susan (Terry) Gardner and Sherry (Kenneth) Pavelski.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Annie; his brother, Lloyd; a step-daughter, Diane Sievers; and a stepson-in-law, Bradd Price.

The family would like to thank the House of Dove in Marshfield for their loving care of Jerry.

A funeral service to honor Jerry’s memory will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Shuda Funeral Home, 2400 Plover Rd., Plover. Deacon Art Schaller will officiate.
