Gary David Janowski, 71

Gary David Janowski, of Stevens Point, passed away on March 12, 2023, at the age of 71.

Gary was born on September 19, 1951 to Alex and Delores (née Kluck) Janowski in Stevens Point. He attended local schools and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in 1969.

In his younger years, he relocated to northern Illinois and remained there for numerous years, living in Belvidere, Rockford, and South Beloit, before returning to Stevens Point in the last five years. While in Illinois, he was part of Union Local 792 for over 40 years and was a foreman at Scandrolli Construction in Rockford, Ill. for many years.

Gary enjoyed working with his hands in his spare time, too. He spent hours working on his ’57 Chevy, spent quiet moments fishing, and displayed his creativity with woodworking. Gary was also an enthusiastic NASCAR fan who was always ready and willing to watch a race and cheer for his favorite drivers.

Gary is loved and will be missed by his son Paul (Lori) Janowski; grandchildren, Holly Janowski and Joseph Janowski; his brother Jim (Shelly) Janowski; niece, Jamie (Grant) Hetzer; and stepmother, Bernice Janowski.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Alex and Delores Janowski.

Services for Gary will be held Thursday, March 23, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Shuda Funeral Chapel, 3200 Stanley St., Stevens Point. Deacon Vern Linzmeier will officiate. Friends and family are invited to gather and share memories at the funeral home on Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place at Guardian Angel Cemetery at a later date.
