Joshua “Josh” Brownell, 24

It is with a broken heart that the family of Joshua “Josh” Brownell announces his passing at the age of 24 on April 23, 2024.

Josh was born on September 26, 1999, in Wisconsin Rapids to Dan and Cathy Brownell. He was a cherished brother to Elizabeth Martowski.

Josh pursued his education at Mid-State Technical College in Stevens Point and after graduating, he chose to make Stevens Point his home, where he worked in retail. He found joy in activities like longboarding, online racing, and spending quality time with his friends.

Despite the challenges he faced, Josh was a dedicated individual who strived for independence, continued learning, and being a reliable employee and friend. His life was filled with love, and his memory will forever be treasured.

Josh is survived by his loving parents, Dan and Cathy; his sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Terrance Martowski; his aunts and uncles, Paul and Donna Dreiske, David and Leslie Wynthein, Mark and Patti Wynthein, Paul and Deb Wynthein, and Steven and Denise Brownell; as well as numerous cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Bud and Margaret Wynthein; his paternal grandparents, John Richard and Beverly Brownell; an uncle, John Wynthein; and an aunt, Judy Dreiske.

A funeral service celebrating Josh’s life will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at Shuda Funeral Chapel, 3200 Stanley Street, Stevens Point, with Pastor Brian Richard officiating. Friends and family are invited to gather and share memories at the funeral home from 6 p.m. until the time of service.

A graveside service will be held for Josh at 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Taylorsville Cemetery in Arlington, Iowa, led by Michael Dreiske. Prior to the burial, a visitation will be held at Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Arlington starting at 3 p.m.
