Donations sought for ‘Books from the Heart’ program

It’s that time of year again—time to dig deep and donate for Books from the Heart.

Now in its 24th year, Books from the Heart is a unique community-driven book drive. The goal is to provide each child in public and private elementary schools with a brand new book for Valentine’s Day.

The program was launched by educators at Kennedy Elementary School, the furthest outlier of the district schools, in Junction City. The program began as one that benefited students in first grade but has since expanded to other grade levels.

Financial donations are being accepted by mail through Feb. 11. Please address envelopes to “Books from the Heart” c/o Sally Crane, J.F. Kennedy Elementary School, 616 West Second St., Junction City, Wis., 54443.
