McCain plants 18,000 trees across state

By Patrick Lynn

McCain Foods has announced the planting of 18,000 trees in Wisconsin, including in the local Plover community where the company recently renovated its appetizer processing plant.

The initiative follows McCain’s commitment two years ago to replace and increase the number of trees cut down for the expansion of its Plover facility.

The tree planting effort was commemorated with a ceremonial ribbon cutting in Plover last week.

“With this initiative, McCain has added three times the number of trees we had to clear in Plover, beautifying the community while increasing its sustainability,” said Howard Snape, president of McCain Foods North America. “We’re proud to continue our work to foster thriving communities around the world and here in Plover.”

The new trees have been planted in the Douglas County Forest and throughout the Plover community, including at a local elementary school and the homes of growers and employees. McCain, with 3,500 farmer partners worldwide and nearly all its facilities in rural areas, often serves as the largest employer and an integral part of many communities. The company takes pride in its role in creating sustainable livelihoods and communities through donations, volunteering, and development.

Sustainability is at the core of McCain’s mission to celebrate real connections through delicious, planet-friendly foods. The company has pledged to halve its emissions by 2030, a commitment verified to align with efforts to limit global warming to 1.5°C.
