Dale Henry Tetzloff

Dale Henry Tetzloff passed away on Wednesday, October 11, surrounded by his loving family in the home that he loved.

He had suffered a stroke a year ago and was never able to recover from it, though he never gave up hope and remained the positive person he always was. He always had a smile for you or a joke to tell.

Dale was born on October 18, 1947 to Henry and Mary (Sarnowski) Tetzloff and grew up as the oldest of eight siblings on the family farm. He graduated from Amherst High School and UW-Stevens Point where he was affiliated with Sigma Pi Fraternity. He married the love of his life, Kathleen Konopacky, on July 15, 1972. He and Kathy were the proud parents of three boys, Jason (Cindy), David, and Jeffrey (Kerri Bigelow) and were later blessed with seven grandchildren, Kieran, Trent, Alyster, Avery, Maia, Aiden, and Ezra.

Dale retired from Wisconsin Public Service and he and Kathy spent their retirement years doing some traveling but mostly spending time with family and friends. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where he was involved in many of the committees and activities. He especially loved his job as an usher so he could greet people at the door with a big smile and a welcome.

As his boys were growing up, he was involved in the Cub Scout program and was Cubmaster for Pack 294 for many years. He was awarded the Outstanding Scouter Award and the District Award of Merit for his service to the scouting program. He also volunteered as a coach for the Portage County Youth Soccer program. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 1170, and was a member of the Fourth Degree Knights. His love of Ford Mustangs saw him at car shows with the Mustangers to display his pride and joy car.

Dale is survived by his wife, children, and grandchildren, his siblings, Glen (Mary), Naples, Fla., Alan (Lynn), Merrill, Judy Ostrander, Stevens Point, Gary (Carol), Zimmerman, Minn., Joan (Michael) Read, Melbourne, Fla., Paul (Melanie), Greenville, Wis., brother-in –laws Jim Jensen, Cadott, Wis., and Jack (Karen) Konopacky, Stevens Point as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws Blaise and Doris Konopacky, and his sister, Jane Tetzloff-Jensen.

A special thank you to the staff of Portage County Health Care Center and Whispering Pines for their care and support and to Compassus Hospice for their compassionate care and making his request of one last Mustang ride a reality.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Dale will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 19 at St. Joseph Catholic Church-1709 Wyatt Ave Stevens Point. Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. with the funeral Mass at 11. Rev. Jeffrey Hennes will be officiating. Burial will be in Guardian Angel Cemetery.
