Community: the library wants your feedback on its future

By Brandi Makuski

The Portage Co. Library is undergoing changes, and its staff wants input from the community.

Library staff is currently updating the vision, mission and goals of the library system, taking into considering the 2017 Portage County LIFE Report, the county’s long-range master plan and updated demographics of the county.

The completed plan is expected to be released in the summer of 2018.

Members of the community are invited to share their ideas, and identify areas for growth during what’s being called a “visioning session” on Feb. 16.

According to a news release from the library, ideas with specific relevance will be used in the library’s long-term strategic planning.

The session will be held from 10 AM to 1 PM on Friday, Feb. 16 in the Pinery Room of the Portage County Public Library, 1001 Main Street.

The meeting will be facilitated by Nathan Sandwick, who works as a community development educator for the Portage County UW-Extension.

Registration is required at www.pocolibrary.org/strategic-plan, as space is limited and a count is needed for lunch.

For more information, go to pocolibrary.org/strategic-plan or contact Larry Oathout, library director, at (715) 346-1544.
