Metro Wire Staff

The City of Stevens Point will be home to 24 new fruit trees next week.

Earth Day 2021 will shed some light on a partnership between the city and North Central Conservancy Trust, Central Rivers Farmshed, American Transmission Company, and UWSP Students for Sustainability.

The trees were purchased with grant money awarded to the city’s forestry department by ATC and will be planted on property owned by the Conservancy, in an abandoned field along the Green Circle Trail at Old Wausau Rd. and Rachick Rd.

Central Rivers Farmshed and UWSP Students for Sustainability will help keep the trees watered after planting, according to a news release from the city’s parks department.

The planting is open to the public. The trees will be planted on Monday, April 19 at noon.
