Baker resigns from Park Ridge presidency

By Brandi Makuski

Park Ridge Village President Trish Baker has resigned from her post effective April 30.

Baker has served in the role for about a year, having been elected to the spot last April. Prior to that, Baker served on the village board from 2012-17.

“I simply do not have the time to work my full-time job and also perform all that the position of village president requires,” Baker’s resignation letter reads in part.

Baker, who also serves on the Stevens Point Area Public School Board, previously worked as the Portage Co. Clerk of Courts, and ran an unsuccessful bid for for Portage Co. Circuit Court Judge in 2016.

She resigned from her role as clerk after losing the race to Judge Robert Shannon, taking a job in private practice.

According to Kathy Bemowski, village clerk/treasurer, the board will meet May 3 to discuss replacing Baker.

A message left for Baker was not immediately returned.

More as we have it.
