ADRC to host workshop on preventing Type 2 diabetes

The Aging & Disability Resource Center of Portage County is hosting a free, one-hour workshop on preventing Type 2 diabetes on Wednesday, March 16, from 1-2 p.m.

Topics to be discussed include understanding Type 2 Diabetes, the difference between Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, risk factors, symptoms, how diabetes can damage the human body, prediabetes versus diabetes, prevention, and working with health insurance companies.

All participants who join the workshop will receive a workbook and fact sheets to follow along during the workshop and take home for future reference. Participants can also enter a prize drawing at the end of the workshop provided by Security Health Plan.

Adults age 55+, adults with disabilities, and their caregivers are encouraged to preregister. The workshop is sponsored by the ADRC, Wisconsin Health Literacy, and Security Health Plan.
