Tools available to help parents keep kids safe online

Metro Wire Staff

With unprecedented numbers of children going online during the coronavirus quarantines, an Altoona-based group working to educate the public about human trafficking is offering parents a little guidance.

The group, Fierce Freedom, this week unveiled a video series to help parents interact with their children in a way that will help keep them safe online.

Human trafficking is the use of fraud, force, or coercion to obtain labor or commercial sex, according to the Wisconsin Dept. of Children and Families. Traffickers often recruit vulnerable youth by using deception on the internet.

The series, Online Safety at Home, helps parents have meaningful conversations with their kids about online gaming, app usage, and exploitation.
