Stevens Point ranked in top 500 for good money management

Stevens Point ranks 364th in the nation for money management, according to a new study.

The financial website WalletHub compared debt-to-income ratio, student loan debt, median credit score, and average number of late payments among 2,568 small cities (under 100,000).

The study also considered mortgage debt, average percentage of credit use, foreclosures, and bankruptcies.

City residents with debt average 1.5 late payments and have a median credit score of 752. Stevens Point ranks in the 86th percentile, meaning 14 percent of all cities studied are preforming better.

No other municipalities in Portage Co. were included in the study.

But elsewhere in Wisconsin, Wisconsin Rapids ranked 610, Wausau was listed as 785th, Appleton ranked 431, La Crosse ranked 602, and Madison ranked 434.
