Sheriff’s office investigating ‘several’ daytime burlgaries

By Brandi Makuski

Portage Co. deputies say they’re investigating a series of daytime burglaries that occurred last week in Amherst and Lanark.

Few details have been released, but according to a news release from Sheriff Mike Lukas, someone forced their way into one residence and stole personal documents, tools, jewelry, and other valuables.

Witnesses told investigators they saw an older white pickup truck, possibly a Dodge Dakota, driving slowly through the area of the burglaries.

The sheriff’s office reports “several daytime burlgaries” but did not disclose specific neighborhoods where the break-ins occurred.

Deputies have one suspect in custody, but the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Kevin Flick at (346) 346-1400.
