The International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO) has named SentryWorld in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, a quality assured golf course for the 2020 season.

SentryWorld, an 18-hole parkland golf course, hosted the USGA’s 71st U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship last summer and continues to provide golf lovers an exceptional and challenging course. SentryWorld is owned and operated by Sentry, one of the nation’s largest mutual insurance companies, which is headquartered in Stevens Point.

In 2019, IAGTO announced the launch of its new Quality Assured Certification program. The program certifies golf courses that deliver the best possible experience to visiting golf travelers, according to a news release from Sentry. It’s open to all golf courses that are IAGTO members and requires two elements—an online Golf Tourism Audit and an IAGTO site inspection. IAGTO was established in 1997 and encompasses more than 1,690 accredited golf tourism partners. The organization’s main goal is to build golf tourism while maintaining and raising standards throughout the industry.

“This certification is a direct result of the meticulous work our team puts into the course to deliver a unique and memorable experience for golfers,” said Danny Rainbow, director of golf at SentryWorld. “We’re grateful that IAGTO continues to support our efforts to keep SentryWorld in the hearts and minds of golf lovers and attract them to our beautiful course.”

When it opened in 1982, SentryWorld was Wisconsin’s first destination golf course. It remains a highly sought-after experience in the Midwest and beyond. Legendary architect Robert Trent Jones Jr. designed the course, calling it his “Mona Lisa.” SentryWorld was renovated in 2014 and is a lush, innovative public course that Jones Jr. refers to as the “Augusta of the north,” due to its white sands, parkland-style, and impeccable fairways and greens.

Adding to the robust destination experience, SentryWorld will build a boutique hotel on the grounds, with groundbreaking in spring 2020 and a spring 2021 opening. The hotel will provide guests an elevated, luxurious experience, paired with renowned Midwestern hospitality.

The SentryWorld campus currently offers two unique restaurants, one-of-a-kind event venues, and a state-of-the-art sports complex.
