Send us your questions for local candidates

Metro Wire Staff

There are a lot of new faces emerging for the April election. And the Metro Wire wants to know what questions you have for each of them.

Following the Feb. 15 primary, the County Executive seat has two candidates. Eric Olson brought in 3,323 votes to John Pavelski’s 3,163. Incumbent Chris Holman garnered the least number of votes at 2,163, eliminating him from a chance at a second term.

Also moving on to April are School Board incumbents Barb Portzen, Jeff Ebel, and Rob Manske. Newcomers Dennis Raabe, Jennifer Bushman, Miguel Campos, Alex Sommers, and Kari Prokop will round out the race.

But in April, there will be more candidates and more races up for consideration. Portage Co. voters will also need to consider a referendum question about borrowing up to an additional $4.5 million annually for a period of 20 years to keeps its nursing home open while constructing a new facility.

All 25 County Board Supervisors are up for the April 5 election.

More than half of the seats on the Stevens Point Common Council are up for grabs in April.

District 1 incumbent Marc Christianson, who was appointed last April to fill the remainder of Councilwoman Tori Jenning’s two-year term, will seek a full term in the spring. He is being challenged by Stephen Klein, who survived the February 15 primary.

In District 6, retired Stevens Point police officer Ron Carlson is running unopposed. Unless someone mounts a successful write-in campaign for the seat, Carlson will succeed Alderman Jeremy Slowinski, who will not seek another term.

District 4
