School board announces new member

By Patrick Lynn

Eight members of the Stevens Point Board of Education on Monday voted for Robert Manzke to fill a vacancy on the board.

Mankze, who is currently working as chief of staff at UW-Stevens Point, was one of 16 candidates for the seat vacated by Patrica Baker. Baker resigned from her role in December following her gubernatorial appointment as a Portage Co. Circuit Court Judge.

Manzke was selected by the board to serve until the 2022 spring election.

“Rob brings a wealth of community knowledge and a higher education and parent lens,” said Meg Erler, president of the school board. “We are looking forward to him joining the board and working in this expanded role for students, staff, and our community.”

Another candidate, Jennifer Bushman, received two votes.

Manzke will be sworn in on Monday, Feb. 8.
