Robert J. Kluck, 92
Robert J. Kluck, age 92, from Stevens Point, passed away Wednesday, June 16, 2021, in Green Bay where he had been living for the past 15 years.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Bob will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 23, 2021, at Holy Spirit Parish in Stevens Point. Friends and family will gather to share memories from 9-10:45 a.m. on Wednesday at the church prior to Mass. Burial with full military honors will be at the Guardian Angel Cemetery.
Bob was born March 8, 1929, in Stevens Point, the son of Prosper and Stella (Leiser) Kluck. He graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School where he was a 2nd team All-State basketball player. He went on to attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison for two years before entering the United States Army.
He was honorably discharged as a sergeant on November 19, 1952, from Camp Atterbury, Indiana after serving our country in the Korean War. He continued to serve in the Army Reserve until 1956. Bob married the love of his life, Betty Abrahamson on January 25, 1956, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church.
Bob and his brother Jim (Prosper) operated Kluck Construction Company, founded by their father, Prosper Sr. in Stevens Point. He loved the road construction industry and is proud to have had a hand in building our interstate system, roads, lakes, and golf courses around the Midwest. The lasting friendships he made with other contractors brought him great joy. He served as President of the Wisconsin Transportation Builders Association from 1978-79.
In his spare time and retirement years, Bob loved to golf, travel, go to Packer games, and spend time with family and friends. He and Betty spent over 20 winters in Arizona where they made many lifelong friends, explored new places, and of course, golfed. He also enjoyed spending time fishing—winter and summer—at the family lake. When the weather prevented him from golfing, Bob dove into the family genealogy, culminating in a book that he wrote of the family history.
Being around people was his favorite thing. He never met someone he didn’t like. Whether in his beloved Soo Marie Ave. neighborhood, the golf course, church, or the grocery store, he took time for people and made it his goal to leave them with a smile.
Bob is survived by his wife, Betty, Green Bay; their daughter Susan (Kluck) Broberg, and her husband Lance. Their daughter Caroline, Bob’s only grandchild, was the greatest joy in his later years, and he never missed a chance to spend time with her or at one of her many events.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Jim (Prosper) Kluck.
