Filed under “Not Really News” is a little tidbit from local history: on June 25, 2013, the Stevens Point School District joined Facebook for the first time.
School Board members at the time included Jeff Presley, Jeff Ebel, Kim Shirek, Lisa Totten, Renae Sheibley, Bob Larson, Terry Rothman, Chris Scott, and Trish Baker. Attila Weninger was superintendent.
The district soon created accounts for both Twitter and Facebook to communicate with parents and students. Posts have included school closings, bus delays and fun stories from inside classrooms. The pages have since grown to serve over 2,600 followers.
