State Senator Patrick Testin (R-Stevens Point) has been honored by the Wisconsin VFW.

Testin was awarded “Legislator of the Year” by John ‘Trapper” Schultz, Immediate Past Commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars’ Department of Wisconsin, during the organization’s state convention in Green Bay.

Schultz said Testin helped create a new Green Alert system for missing at-risk veterans and has authored legislation that helps veterans transition into agriculture, and enhances benefits for members of the National Guard and their families.

“From day one, Senator Testin has been an advocate for veterans,” Schultz said. “The veteran community has a friend in Patrick Testin.”

Testin chairs the Senate Committee on Workforce Development, Military Affairs, and Senior Issues.

“I have a great deal of respect for our veterans and for organizations like the VFW that provide a
community for those who served,” said Testin. “As a legislator, I want to give veterans and their
families the tools they need—the tools they’ve earned—to live successful lives during and after
their time of service.”

The Plover VFW is located at 2970 Hickory Dr. in Plover. For more information on the organization go to www.vfw.org.
