Make Music Day planned for June 21

By Patrick Lynn

Make Music Day is coming to Pfiffner Pioneer Park on June 21.

Heid Music, CREATE Portage County, The Aber Suzuki Center at UW-Stevens Point, the Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra’s Steel Band and Youth Symphony Orchestra Program, along with the Stevens Point City Band, are coming together to make music on the longest day of the year.

June 21 is the summer solstice, a day when one of Earth’s poles has its maximum tilt toward the sun, resulting in a day with the longest period of daylight and the shortest night of the year.

Make Music Day will take place on Wednesday, June 21, from 6-8 p.m. at the Pfiffner Pioneer Park Bandshell.

The event is part of a global celebration of music making in over 1,000 cities inspired by France’s Fête de la Musique.

AnnTea’s LLC will be serving southeast Asian cuisine and drinks, alongside King Cone Homemade Ice Cream.
