Letter: Lukas supports county in role as sheriff

To the Editor-

I am writing in support of reelecting Sheriff Mike Lukas to the position of Portage County Sheriff.

Mike has done a great job in his past two terms for our county. He has the experience and knowledge we need to keep our county moving in the right direction and into the future.

Mike has worked to build relationships throughout his time as sheriff. He attends meetings for town boards, county boards, town associations, and many others in the county. He continually shows up and is part of the community.

Mike even volunteers his time for the Bancroft Lions Club’s annual Good Old Days celebration to help raise money that will be used to give back to the community and those in need. He’s been helping there for the past 10 years, always with a smile and a comment for so many people.

Mike has also worked to implement many programs during his time as sheriff that benefits the people of Portage County and help keep us safe. For example, he was able to secure several million dollars in funding through grants and donations to help offset shrinking budgets. This allowed the sheriff’s office to outfit deputies with up-to-date equipment, update the 911 system, and implement 911 texting.

We need Mike to continue the good work he’s started and to implement his ideas for the future of law enforcement in Portage County.

Vote Mike Lucas for Portage County Sheriff.
