Letter: Jacowski truly community-minded

To the Editor-

As a scout leader I take special note of individuals willing to go above and beyond.

Every year Cub Scouts build Pinewood Derby Cars, shaped from blocks of wood. We then race them down an indoor ramp. Many of the kids do not have the tools needed to build their own cars. I personally have limited wood working tools and it has become difficult to help all the boys who needed tools.

When I brought this dilemma to Matt Jacowski, he offered a solution. He has access to an array of wood working tools, plus paint and can help instruct/supervise in derby car making. Even though Matt’s son is still too young to participate in Cub Scouts, he is willing to take time out of his schedule to help others.

Matt not only volunteers time to help with Cub Scouts but he has been teaching hunters safety for 18 years. That’s years before he decided to have children of his own. Along with hunters safety, Matt also volunteers to the Wisconsin Mentored Hunting Program with youth and disabled veterans. This program gives first time hunters a safe and memorable experience.

Matt has earned my respect with his willingness to put others before himself. Thank you Matt for being there to help create memories for Portage County residents, you have my vote.

Please join me in voting for Matt Jacowski on February 20th.
