Letter: Chojnacki has ‘unquestionable’ integrity

To the Editor-

I’m writing this to encourage you to vote for Florian Chojnacki for Portage County Sheriff on August 9.

My name is John Keener. I retired as captain of operations in 2008 after 33 years of employment with the Portage County Sheriff’s Office.

I firmly believe that Florian Chojnacki possesses all the positive attributes to allow him to be an exceptional Sheriff. His integrity is unquestionable. The values he holds will allow him to build the necessary trust, strong relationships, partnerships, and transparency with government and civic entities and citizens alike.

He will also build unity within the department and will use the existing extremely capable personnel to assist him in providing quality services to all. He will be supportive of the other employees in the department and will encourage their personal growth and talents. He won’t underutilize his upper-level staff or minimize their abilities. His leadership abilities are present and strong.

A number of retired sheriff’s department personnel have endorsed Florian Chojnacki through the media or on his website endorsement page. All of those retirees, many of them upper-level management, actually worked with or supervised Lukas and Chojnacki prior to Lukas becoming sheriff. Other sheriffs department retirees that have publicly supported Lukas retired prior to Chojnacki joining the department making their ability to judge Chojnacki’s abilities extremely limited.

Join me and numerous other retired deputies, sergeants, lieutenants, captains, and chief deputies that will be casting votes for Chojnacki for Sheriff on August 9.
