Letter: Candidate will oppose CRT influence on students

Editor’s note: Stevens Point school district officials deny that CRT is being taught in K-12 schools.

To the Editor-

I’m writing this letter to share my school board recommendation of Kari Prokop, a teacher who has bachelor’s degrees in Communication and English. I’ve known Kari for years, have seen her excellent leadership skills firsthand, and admire her integrity and character.

Kari is willing to take on Critical Race Theory (being pushed on district students through EDI: equity, diversity, inclusion training) and its encroachment into our school district. CRT is the neo-Marxist movement that causes division between people groups. Through EDI training, district students are being influenced to take on values that are often at odds with the morals they learn at home. Our students need to spend more time on core subjects and less time learning the ideology of the left.

According to Kari’s website, she would like to find ways to improve the morale and satisfaction of school district employees. She would also cultivate a community of transparency where parents have easy access to curricula in order to see what is being taught.

We need people like Kari Prokop who understand what true education should be and will fight to ensure that our youngsters leave the district prepared to succeed. To find out more about Kari’s candidacy, visit her website at www.votekariprokop.com.
