Letter: Candidate supports Haga in April election
To the Editor-
Upon being sworn in as County Board Supervisor for District 3, I spoke with several people, including elected officials, to gather information regarding the issues and challenges facing the board in the near and long-term future.
My goal was to become more knowledgeable and subsequently, a more effective member of the Board of Supervisors.
With the information I learned from these discussions, my attendance at many board meetings and my experience in working with prior County Board Chairs, I developed great confidence in Chairman Al Haga and his knowledge of the challenges we must act upon.
Based on the information I gathered, and the knowledge I received from Chairman Haga, I set out to accomplish three things:
- Build the county’s new jail now. This matter has been under discussion for 18 years with no resolution and costs continue to rise. We cannot afford to wait any longer.
- Keep the Courthouse downtown.
- Keep the Portage County Health Care Center open providing the same level of 5 star services it has provided the citizens of Portage County since 1931.
Chairman Al Haga supports these objectives and has provided excellent leadership to the Portage County Board of Supervisors. I wholeheartedly support his reelection in April 2024. I ask that you do so as well.
