Janet C. Simonis, 72

Janet C. Simonis, 72, of Stevens Point passed away Saturday evening, December 2, 2023 at Marshfield Medical Center in Weston.

Jan was born December 3, 1950 in Garden City, Kansas. She was the daughter of the late John and Carolyn (née Schreiber) Smith. She graduated from Garden City High School in 1968 and Chippewa Valley Technical College in 1991.

Her marriage to the late Marvin Simonis took place in October 1972 at an outdoor ceremony in Almond. After their marriage the couple lived in Eleva, Wis. and Mondovi, Wis. before returning to Stevens Point in 1991.

Jan worked for Sentry Insurance until her retirement in 2002. In her free time, Jan enjoyed volunteering and gardening. She also loved watching Green Bay Packers games and listening to classic rock music.

Jan is survived by her sons Heath of Chandler, Arizona and Ike (Margaret) of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, sister Christina of Gays Mills, Wisconsin, and brothers Zach (Kristi) and Jeff both of Wichita, Kansas. Jan is also survived by granddaughters Lila and Marisa (both of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania).

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, Dec. 7, 2023 from 10 a.m. to noon at Pisarski Funeral Home of Plover, 2911 Plover Rd., Plover. Following the service, starting at 12:30 p.m., on behalf of the family, everyone is invited to Sky Club for continuation of visiting time.
