Donald B. Barnsdale, 77

Donald B. Barnsdale, 77, of Stevens Point, passed away at Aspirus Wausau Hospital on October 5, 2022.

Donald was born to Walter and Catherine (Laszewski) Barnsdale on December 20, 1944, in Stevens Point. He grew up in the area and attended local schools. In 1963, he graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School.

After high school, he proudly served our country by enlisting in the U.S. Army, where he was stationed in Korea. In 1967, he was honorably discharged.

In 1967, Donald married Judith Dahlke; they later divorced. In 1993, he married Diane Copeland in Leitchfield, Kentucky. To provide for his family, Donald worked for Consolidated Papers as a paper tender for over 40 years.

Donald was a man of many interests. He enjoyed bird hunting, NASCAR, football, “Gunsmoke,” and any other Western. He also enjoyed participating in baseball, snowmobiling, camping, and horseshoes.

Donald is survived by his wife, Diane, a daughter, Kerrie (Leon) Check, a son, Christopher Barnsdale, and his step-children, Jody (Jodi) Check, and Rhonda (Eugene) Pavelski. He is further survived by three grandchildren; Amanda, Ethan, and Matthew, and a brother, David Barnsdale. His beloved dog, Shea, also survives him.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Irv, and three sisters, Harriet, Arlene, and Kathryn.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Donald will be held on Tuesday, October 11 at 11 a.m at St. Bronislava Catholic Church, 3200 Plover Rd., Plover, with Rev. Edward Shuttleworth officiating. Friends and family may gather to share memories on Monday, October 10 from 4-6 p.m. at Shuda Funeral Chapel, 3200 Stanley St., Stevens Point, and again on Tuesday, October 11 at St. Bronislava Catholic Church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial with full military honors will follow at St. Bronislava Cemetery.
