City to begin annual chip-sealing projects

Metro Wire Staff

City crews will begin annual chip and fog seal projects on Tuesday, May 31.

Affected roads are near the Lake District, and include Yosemite Dr., Teton Dr., Olympia Ave., Forest Circle, Howard Ave., and Orchid Ln.

Chip sealing operations “seals” the road surface with “chips” of aggregate, which help prolong the life of the roadway.

Roadways will remain open to traffic but motorists should expect delays of up to two hours while the treatments are being applied, according to a news release from the streets department.

Motorists can expect loose gravel until a second sweeping is conducted about 72 hours after the treatment is complete.

Projects will be conducted on several streets through Friday, June 10, weather permitting.
