City Band to carry patriotic theme next week

The Stevens Point City Band will perform its fifth concert of the season Wed., July 4.

The 7 p.m. concert, under the direction of conductor Kathryn Kawleski, will celebrate Independence Day with the theme, “Three Cheers For The Red, White, and Blue”.

A variety of patriotic and classic Americana-themed music will be performed, including “An American Spectacular”, “Cranberry Corners, U.S.A.”, “Americans We”, “Irving Berlin: From Rags to Ritz”, “Concord”, “The Homefront: Musical Memories of WWII” and “The Stars and Stripes Forever”.

“On The Mall” by Edwin Franko Goldman will be the music for the weekly children’s march.

Attendees should bring a chair or blanket for seating. A rain location will be the gymnasium at St. Paul Lutheran Church and School, 1919 Wyatt Ave.

Michele’s Restaurant and Catering of Stevens Point will provide food for purchase before and during the concert.

The concerts are free and held Wednesday evenings through August 1.
