Big weekend ahead for American Legion Sixers

American Legion Post 6 Baseball is hosting the 46th annual Firecracker tournament beginning June 28.

Held at Bukolt Park, a total of eight teams will compete for the championship beginning at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Sixers will play a 7 p.m. game against DC Everest on Thursday, followed by 7:30 p.m. play against Altoona on Friday, and an 8:30 p.m. contest on Saturday against Kimberly.

Semi-finals and championship games will be held Sunday.

Special events are planned for the June 29 game, with no gate admission, and special giveaways.

Appearances by Mayor Mike Wiza and District 4 Councilwoman Heidi Oberstadt are also planned, with both expected to help throw the first pitch of the Friday night game. Local fire and law enforcement agencies have also been invited to make an appearance.

The Post 6 Color Guard will present the colors, led by Commander John Adamski.

Except for the June 29 game, admission is $3 per day or $10 for the entire weekend. Concessions will be available for purchase.
