Challenger files for city’s 5th District

By Brandi Makuski

The city’s 5th District now has opposition for the April election.

Brian Jurgella, who lives on Lora St., filed his nomination paperwork for city alderman on Jan. 2.

“I really didn’t pay attention to local politics until these past two years,” said Jurgella, 46. “Maybe it’s because of social media, maybe it’s because of the actual topics that have been brought up on the council. But I just thought there needs to be a little more common sense. So I thought I’d throw my hat in the ring.”

Jurgella is running against Meleesa Johnson, who is currently serving as Council President.

Jurgella is SPASH graduate and builds 3-D models for Point of Beginning. He is unmarried and has no children.

Jurgella plans to have a campaign Facebook page in the near future.
