Metro Wire Staff

The Stevens Point Area YMCA has announced a new program to help break the COVID blues.

Open to everyone in the community, even non-members of the YMCA, the free, six-week Reset Challenge kicks off Feb. 1. Participants ages 10 years and older should be able to commit to 30 minutes of some type of exercise or other physical activity five days a week.

The YMCA will debut new virtual programs, including Zumba, yoga, HIIT, and other classes. Other challenges include running, walking, skiing, sledding, snow shoveling, and snowshoeing.

The program will “reset” the spirit, mind, and body, according to the YMCA.

“The pandemic has put a lot of us in a position to want to help others but now it is time to help ourselves,” said Sharon Johnson, CEO of the Stevens Point Area YMCA. “I am excited to have signed up for the RESET challenge, it is time to focus on me.”

Participants will receive three texts or emails weekly, filled with challenges, workout plans, and other means of motivation. Anyone who completes the challenge will also receive a free t-shirt.

The first 150 YMCA members to sign up also receive a free workout resistance loop band.
