Wiza joins Wausau, Rhinelander mayors in fundraising auction

Three local mayors have put their inner-artist to the test for a special fundraiser.

Mayor Mike Wiza, with Chris Frederickson, mayor of Rhinelander, and Wausau’s mayor, Katie Rosenberg, collectively known as “The River Cities Mayors” have each produced a painting for auction.

Each of the mayors created a painting that will be auctioned off to help raise money for arts initiatives in their communities. PBS Wisconsin is hosting the auction site at https://auction.pbswisconsin.org.

The money raised during the auction will benefit the winning mayor’s chosen charity. Wiza has chosen an artistic lighting project for the Riverfront; Frederickson’s choice is the Rhinelander Community Foundation’s Hodag Park Project to benefit, and Rosenberg’s charity is the Wausau Center for the Visual Arts.

Online bidding will continue through Nov. 27, which is Shop Small Saturday, to help draw attention to local artisans, shops, and products.
