With warm weather, winter sports areas close

The City of Stevens Point has temporarily closed its winter sports areas.

Due to increased temperatures and deteriorating snow and ice conditions, the Iverson Park Winter Sports Area and outdoor ice rinks are now closed until temperatures allow more ice to be installed and improved winter conditions.

The ice rink located within the downtown square will be open Friday, Dec. 27, according to a news release from the city, but will close beginning Saturday, Dec. 28 until further notice.
