SPASH school officials have announced that head football coach Pete McAdams has resigned from his coaching position.

McAdams resigned for personal reasons, according to a news release from the Stevens Point Area Public School District.

McAdams served as the head football coach at SPASH since 2000 and has led the Panthers to an overall record of 146-72 during his tenure. He stepped away from this role for the 2011 season and then returned in 2012.

His teams have won six Wisconsin Valley Conference/Valley Football Association championships and reached the state semi-finals two times during his seasons as head coach and led the Panthers to a state runner-up finish in 2010. McAdams was named the conference coach of the year seven times and was also recognized twice as the Green Bay Packers High School Coach of the Week.

SPASH administration is currently working to replace McAdams, the release said. They will appoint an interim varsity coach for the ’21 season.

“A formal search and hiring process for a permanent head football coach will begin later in the school year,” the district said.

McAdams will continue to teach social studies at SPASH.
