SPASH defeats Wausau West; secures share of the conference title

Metro Wire Staff

After being tied 1-1 going into the seventh inning, SPASH rallied three runs on three hits to defeat Wausau West 4-1 and secure at least a share of the Wisconsin Valley Conference title.

The Panthers scored one run in the first inning from a fly ball into right field by Austin Beyer but did not score again until the last inning of the game.

Dayne Hoyord’s bunt induced an error by Wausau West to score Beyer to start the seventh inning rally. As SPASH had the bases loaded, Brady Franz was hit by a pitch to bring in an RBI and Brett Ehr hit a sacrifice fly to bring in the final SPASH run of the game.

Dylan Trigg was the starting pitcher going four innings allowing one run on one hit, three walks, and eight strikeouts. Reese Gaber was the winning pitcher going the final three innings with no runs on two hits, one walk, and four strikeouts.

SPASH will host Wausau West at Memorial Park on Thursday for their final conference game of the season.
