School board seeks applicants for vacancy

By Patrick Lynn

The Stevens Point Area Public School Board is seeking applicants for consideration to fill a board vacancy.

Amy Dailey, who had served on the board since 2016, and prior to that, worked as the board secretary, announced her resignation on Aug. 5. In a written statement to the media, Dailey said she’d considered resigning since April, but decided to continue working on the board until early August when she said, “it became clear that (staying) was no longer a viable option.”

A request for additional details from Dailey on Aug. 12 was not immediately answered.

Superintendent Craig Gerlach said in an email statement on Tuesday that Dailey was a “level-headed and thoughtful board member,” adding his personal thanks for her service.

Anyone interested to fill the remainder of Dailey’s term, through April 2020, can apply online at www.PointSchools.net/schoolboard, or pick up application materials at Bliss Educational Services Center, 1900 Polk St.

Applications are due at 4 p.m. on Aug. 29.

The board will appoint Dailey’s replacement during a special meeting on Sept. 6.
