Richard W. Lake, 71

Richard W. Lake of Stevens Point, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at the age of 71 years young. He had his beautiful, much younger, loving wife and all his favorite children by his side.

Rick was born on April 20, 1951, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Donald Lake and Mary (Howe) Frye.

Rick married the love of his life, Sandy, on July 12, 1990. Rick was blessed with four children; two children, Colin and Jason, with Sandy; and two children, Sara (Cliff) Pauley and Nathan, from a previous marriage. He was known as Grandpa Rick to Fletcher and Flynn Pauley; his two amazing grandsons. Furthermore, he was Uncle Rick to Brent Flugaur, Jesse (Jen) Flugaur, Jill Flugaur (Kevin), and Kaitlin Smith (John), who surely have a story or two about him.

Rick did many things in his life in addition to being everyone’s favorite computer guy and screen-printer. Rick loved listening to music, biking, camping, and all the things his wife made him do.

Rick is survived by his wife and children, his parents, and his sister, Linda Smith.

Rick was preceded in death by his brother, Ron Lake.

The Lake Family would like to thank all the staff at Aspirus Rehab in Wausau; especially Hannah, MacKenna, and Kaitlyn, for their compassionate care of Rick and making a tough situation easier. Thank you to Promedica Hospice, neighbors, friends, and Sandy’s coworkers for all the support this past year. We want to thank Aunt Frieda and her family for all their love and support. Aunt Frieda’s cards kept Rick smiling. A huge thank you to the Marshalls for all the help and support this past year.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at Central Waters Brewery in Amherst. Visitation will be 10:30 – 11:30 a.m., with a Celebration of Life Service at 11:30 a.m., followed by military funeral honors.

Everyone is welcome to join the family for lunch and refreshments after the Celebration of Life. There will be time during the Celebration for friends to share a story or say a few words if they would like.
